The Sunrise Board has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Salvation Army (QLD) Property Trust.
The Sunrise Way Board will continue to operate as an advisory Board to the operational Board of the Salvation Army and the Salvation Army will operate the facility as soon as recurrent funding is available. The Facility is now completed and ready for occupancy.
The Salvation Army submitted a funding application to the Federal Department of Health and Ageing (DOHA) in December 2011 and are optimistic this submission will be successful and it will provide 3 years of operational funding. It is expected that DOHA will make a decision by March 2012.
The Sunrise Way Board is delighted with the ground keeping services being provided by Steve Kite, Managing Director of The Green Gardner, and incoming president of the Toowoomba North Rotary Club. Steve and his staff have generously donated their time for the upkeep of the grounds. They plan to bring these gardens to Carnival of Flowers competition standard once the centre is operational.
Both organisations are extremely indebted to the support and patience of the many volunteers and businesses that made this high quality facility possible. The asset maintenance division of Queensland Health valued the refurbishment works at $2,000,000 during a site assessment visit last year.
